Carbon Dioxide CO2

At the facility of GDG in Kemerhisar / NİĞDE the carbon dioxide gas (CO2) is liquefied and being distributed. Carbon dioxide gas is exerted naturally and nearly at 100% purity by drilling from the fault cracks 300-500 meters underground and delivered to the facility by polyethylene pipe line system. As a result of exerting the CO2 gas, the oxygen level in the ground increases and the areas in which the gas is exerted become green, lands convenient to planting occur and damps become dry.

OUR CAPACİTY The built power of our facility in Kemerhisar / NİĞDE is 5000 kg/hour, our stocking capacity is 500 tons. The CO2 produced in our facility has a purity above the standards or TSE and Food Production Standards and it is the purest Carbon Dioxide Gas (99.999%) in Turkey. Our company gives agencies to the to the companies which have an annual consuming capacity of at least 120 tons in and outside the country. The selection of the agencies which present our company is made with care to provide the final customer appreciation. Storage tanks of different capacities are given by our company to our agencies and directly to our customers for rent.

CARBON DIOXIDE GAS

Carbon dioxide gas is acquired naturally from underground or from the excess chimney gas. Carbon dioxide gas is present as solid, liquid and gas at one time at 56,6°C and 4 bar pressure. Carbon dioxide can be kept in liquid form in the one walled inter cooling system tanks or Cryogenic tanks which are insulated with insulation materials. Carbon dioxide is stored at 13-20 bars and -35°C – -55° temperature and delivered with long trucks.;

Carbon dioxide is a corrosive gas. Normal materials are appropriate for the dry gas at the surroundings temperature; below -30°C only low temperature carbon steel, austenite stainless steel, aluminum, copper or copper-aluminum alloy will be appropriate to use. If carbon dioxide dissolves with water at high pressure at the environment having oxygen, then it will be appropriate to use material resistant to carbon acid.

THE MAIN PRODUCTION WAYS OF CARBON DIOXIDE

Carbon dioxide is gotten from chimney gas, by chemical reaction, fermentation and natural sources.

THE CARBON DIOXIDE PRODUCED FROM CHIMNEY GAS

To use the carbon dioxide produced from chimney gas in food and drug industry is forbidden by law in our country in 1990s because inside it has sulfur compounds, aromatic compounds, and compounds like benzene which have cancer effect.

NATURAL CARBON DIOXIDE

Natural carbon dioxide is gotten from underground sources. It is produced mainly in Denizli Kızıldere basin, Niğde Kemerhisar basin and Aksaray basin in Turkey. The first naturally produced carbon dioxide was produced by Güney Doğalgaz in Niğde basin.

Natural carbon dioxide forms from four main resources in the world:,
1. Magmatic resource form
2. Metamorphic resource form
3. Geothermal resource form
4. Sedimentary resource form

There are natural carbon dioxide veins of four different resources in our country. These veins are the richest of the world together with Central European Countries. According to the search studies of MTA General Management, very rich natural carbon dioxide fields are discovered in our country.

THE PLACE OF CARBON DIOXIDE GAS IN OUR LIFE

• As an inert coverer in metal welding
• At the precipitation of the salts like ammonium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate; at penicillin production; as an acid to regulate the pH value
Iron packaging, hardening the crucible surfaces
• At organic agriculture and greenhouses
• At cement improvement
• As a fertilizer
• At air beds
• At swelling of lifeguard boats, as torpedo pusher
• At mines as exploder, at cooling of exploder materials
• In aerosols and fire extinguisher tubes, at fire extinguisher systems
• At transferring of dangerous liquids
• At extraction of petrol
• In drinks like barrel beer, cola and mineral water
• Storage and keeping of frozen food, fruits, vegetables and flowers
• To preserve the freshness in substances which can spoil easily
• At the production of ice cream, milk and butter

MATTERS TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION

Carbon dioxide gas has a vapor which can suffocate. It is 1,53 times heavier than air. The limit of professional exposure (TLV) is about 5000 Vpm. Carbon dioxide is not present as liquid at atmospheric pressure, it can be present as liquid in a closed container at 4 bars. The solid phase of the gas is called dry ice, it can make cold burns at the skin. There is about 0,035% carbon dioxide at atmospheric pressure.
